Word and care

God speaks through his Word, and his Word is sufficient to shepherd people through real life. That conviction shapes how we preach and how we care for hurting neighbors.

Expository preaching, whole-Bible story

Dave preaches expository sermons: working through books of the Bible passage by passage, so that the main point of the text is the main point of the sermon. His focus is biblical theology, tracing how each passage fits the one storyline of Scripture from creation to new creation, and how it all points to Christ.

Every sermon lands on application. The goal is not information but transformation: what this text means for a marriage, a job, a grief, a temptation, a neighbor, this week.

“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”

Luke 24:27 (ESV)

Biblical counseling in Oldtown, Priest River, and Newport

Planned as a front door of the church for members and neighbors.

Dave and his wife, Jocelyn, are both certified biblical counselors through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). In a small town, people often first meet a church not on Sunday but in a crisis. We want neighbors to know there is a place for their hardest questions and patient, Scripture-shaped help.

  • Counseling for church members and the wider community.
  • Training the congregation in everyday “one-another” care.
  • Over time, a church-based counseling and training ministry serving the region.

“I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.”

The shared table and a simple rhythm

We will keep church life simple so that people have time for each other: a few shared practices, done faithfully every week, rather than a crowded calendar.

Proposed rhythm; it will grow with the people God gathers.

  1. Lord’s Day

    Word & Table

Worship, singing, prayer, and expository preaching, followed by a shared meal. Everyone stays.

  2. Midweek

    Households

Gatherings in homes to talk through Sunday’s text, pray, and share needs.

  3. Through the week

    Care

Counseling appointments, visits, meals for the sick, and practical help.

  4. Each month

    Neighbors

An open community meal or work day: a simple way to welcome newcomers.

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together.”

Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)
